  Felton Enchanted Garden

 BEFORE

Located in the Zayante area of Felton the owners of this beautiful property wanted to develop sitting areas and garden rooms as well as an eventual pool. The first priority was a long pathway on the side of the lawn leading to an old shed. A flower bed on the side of the driveway also needed color as the kitchen windows look directly onto this area. The clients like lots of color and love to tend to their plants as do the local deer. The client provided lots of ideas to review that she had clipped from magazines and I thought several could be incorporated into the garden successfully.

The arbor path was designed to be a destination in itself. A Three Rivers flagstone path in interplanted with isotoma aand a series of four wide ornate iron arbors were place along the winding path.

 AFTER

A small bench between trees at one side allows the visitor to stop and enjoy the lush plantings.White dogwood, lavender azaleas, purple rhododendrons and Lily-of-the-Valley shrub are but a few of the larger accents along the path.Pink anemones, Japanese forest grass, Pacific Coast iris, Amethyst Mist heucheras, pink astilbe, Japanese painted ferns and autumn ferns provide color. The arbors are covered with pink jasmine, star jasmine and Jackmanii clematis adding to the delight of the senses in the garden.

The shed at the end of the path has been remodeled into a summer cottage conplete with a wisteria covered arbor.

The clients love the new additions to their garden and are adding new areas all the time. All they needed was a plan to get them started. Their little dog, Molly, has been a lot of help, too.
