Mt. Hermon Garden of Eden
This property is located in the sandy soil of the Mt. Hermon area of Felton and contains has both sunny and shady areas as well as gophers and deer in the front garden.
The owners wanted their garden to be inviting as they entertain often. The front yard is very structured with the series of retaining walls to oneside of the steep driveway and the other side had a erosion problem in the winter. The front entry also needed some drama and color.
The back yard consisted of more retaining walls and fruit rees but little else except Naked ladies. One of the main requests for this project was to include lots of flowers and color.
The owners agreed that there would be some maintenance for the perennials but they both love to be out in the garden anyway. The owner researched and chose most of the plant material used. Both color and fragrance were main considerations. One area was redone with a grape arbor and sitting area to enjoy the afternoon sunset and the trees in the distance. A small putting green and sand trap were also installed for the owner to enjoy. Pathways were used to create garden rooms and access to the sloping area. Small steps were designed to accomodate the owner?s elderly parents footing when they came to visit.
The owners plan to do some remodeling in the future and this was taken into consideration in the garden areas close to the house. This garden is loved by the owners who like to share their beautiful creation with friends and family. More flowers will be added on a seasonal basis.
